Itasha papercraft

Japan has its own characteristics in the taste of modification. In the flow of modifications, they introduced the name Itasha. Itasha itself is a combination of kanji. Itai which means pain / pain, and sha for car / car. If combined, the direct translation becomes pain car.

Named pain car because of being a otaku, who is fanatical about anime, manga, or video games (especially bishojo or eroge), sometimes gets a scorn from people around. Plus, the characters that are often used as themes are often cute, sexy, and beautiful girls. Of course this gives a childish or even lonely image to the owner.

Modifications to the Itasha school itself have appeared in Japan since the 1990s. They decorate the car with trinkets and anime stickers. It is inspired by the modified flow of Bosozoku motorcycles and decorated trucks (Dekotora).

Only since the advent of printing technology and many people who use digital printing to make car stickers, Itasha began to spread. In 2007, starting from the online community, they held a massive ground coffee aka meetup at the Auto Salon (Autosaroone) event. A year after that, there were about 600 Itasha cars gathered in Odaiba district. Itasha is increasingly attracted by many people. In fact, once at one of the events there was also a showcasing ferarri F430 Spider that has been modified with the flow of Itasha.

Right now, itasha's genre modifications are already affecting the racing world, bro. In 2008 a car decorated with the Hatsune Miku theme took part in the Super GT car racing championship. Anime-themed cars were also seen at the famous Japanese drifting championship D1 Grand Prix.

In Indonesia, Itasha's presence has not been widely roamed the streets. Perhaps because of the small number, some people still consider it tacky or lebay. In fact, Itasha's own influence has extended to various countries. It is not uncommon for itasha car owners to display a nice and neatly constructed aesthetic side.
